About me

Gildardo completed his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Computer Science from Tecnologico de Monterrey in 2001 and 1994, respectively. Prior to that, he earned a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Universidad de Guadalajara in 1990.

Gildardo served as an assistant researcher at the Wood, Cellulose, and Paper Institute of Universidad de Guadalajara from 1991 to 1992. He was also a Research Visitor at the Robotics Lab at Stanford University from 1999 to 2001. During 2004-2005, he was a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore through the Singapore-MIT Alliance. From 2016 to 2021, he was appointed as the Rector of Universidad Politécnica de Yucatán.

His research interests focus on Motion Planning Algorithms for robots, and more recently, the application of Machine Learning techniques to solve complex problems in various domains.

Gildardo holds the title of National Researcher, Level I, by the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores in Mexico.

Currently, Gildardo is a full-time Professor in the Computer Science Department at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Guadalajara.
